  • Best of the Tests 2010- zBoost listed!

    February 26, 2010 - Leave a Comment

Craig Mathias, of Network World listed the zBoost from Wi-Ex as one of his favorite products in 2010, in his article, "Best of the Tests 2010".

zBoost Cell Phone Signal Extender from Wi-Ex

"I've been working in wireless for almost 19 years. I have five – or is it six? – wireless LANs in my house. I've used hundreds of wireless and mobile products, spoken and written widely on the subject, and generally been a cheerleader for everything wireless – but I have a deep, dark, secret: I have terrible wireless coverage at my house.

Now, this isn't my fault. I've lived in this house for almost 24 years, and I'm only a KM or so from the Mass Pike – the big east/west toll road that runs the length of the state. You'd think cellular would be just fine here. And yet service is marginal with all of the four major carriers – a bar or two at best. The second floor is a great place to make a call, but the office is in the basement. Dropped calls are common.

Anyone in this situation has a limited number of options. You can try multiple handsets. You can call your preferred carrier and ask (or even plead), but even those of us with some visibility have no sway of value here. You can go up to the second floor.

Or you can get the dual-band, voice and data zBoost Cell Phone Signal Extender from Wi-Ex. This is a low-cost repeater, perfectly legal, mind you, that adds a couple of bars to the signals of all of the carriers. For best results, you'll need to do a little installing, ideally mounting the included cable-attached antenna some distance from the base unit, which itself is about the size of a Wi-Fi access point. But no configuration beyond that is required - switch it on, and enter cell phone coverage nirvana."

All you need to make a dinner look fancy is garlic mashed potatoes. Here is a recipe I made up a few years back after wanting to replicate the mash potatoes I ate at a restaurant. Who would have known mine would turn out better :)

    1/3 cup of minced garlic

    Steps:

Chop up the 10 red potatoes into cubed sizes.

Use a mixer to whip the potatoes until creamy.

  • Teleworking and Mobile Technology- Making it work

    February 18, 2010 - Leave a Comment

With recent reports estimating that more than 12 million employees in the U.S. telework more than 8 hours every week, and the use of mobile internet devices in Western Europe will rise from 13% in 2008 to 39% in 2014, it’s no surprise that teleworking and mobile technology are at the forefront of technology news.

This increase in teleworking can be attributed to the rising cost of fuel, increased commute time, and the advancement of technologies that support business productivity. By teleworking, employees are able to better balance their profession and personal lives, while staying connected and productive.

Smartphones and cell phone signal boosters have joined the list of “must-have” technology tools for the evolving employee, reinforcing the serious need for strong indoor signal strength, and the zBoost by Wi-Ex. According the annual zBoost “State of the Cell Signal” Survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, 67% of cell phone owners use data functions on their phones, and a staggering 60% of those users experience problems with their cell phone service while using these data functions.

  • The Wi-Ex Team at Mobile World Congress

    February 17, 2010 - Leave a Comment

Wi-Ex is making its first showing at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The marketing team arrived safely after a turbulent 9 hour flight that departed at 5:30pm and arrived the next morning at 8am. After a little sleep on the plane, we found our hotel and then went in search of Fira Barcelona, the very large exhibition center.

Since we hand-carried all of our booth materials and did our own booth set up we were able to save thousands of dollars. If you've never been to a trade show, it's amazing to see the teams of carpenters, painters, electricians and coordinators creating a high tech temporary city in a just a few days.

Our setup team of Bethany, Julie, Sharon, and Roni may not be union workers but we did a great job of setting up the booth and hanging Bethany's graphics. In the small booth category, we had by far, the most polished look in the mobile phone area of the show.

Barcelona is a beautiful city, unfortunately just like at home in Atlanta, Barcelona is experiencing colder than normal temps with higher than normal precipitation.

    Adios for now!

Recent industry statistics predict that worldwide smartphone sales will surpass worldwide PC sales by the end of 2011. In addition, according to Gartner more than one billion devices worldwide will be connected to the web in 2010.

“The surge in smartphones combined with the increase in use of mobile devices for accessing the Internet and other data functions has made the mobile life a reality,” said Lloyd R. • Site of the Week: MyPyramid.gov

    February 12, 2010 - Leave a Comment

When I heard someone recently say they had never heard of this site I knew it had to be featured as zBoost Your Life’s Site of the Week. I was introduced to this site in a college health class and it seriously changed my life, nutrition wise.  MyPyramid.gov is provided to us by the United States Department of Agriculture.  This site is a go to source to find out how to create a health plan tailored for your stats as well as find important information about your health and fitness.

A few unique aspects about this site that I found interesting and useful are:

    • My Pyramid Plan: This allows you to create a tailored plan for your body type while also making sure you get the nutrients you need each day.
    • Interactive Tools: The one I like the best is a menu planner that helps create meals that suite your life while keeping you healthy.
    • Accurate information: This aspect of the site is great because you will know when reading the information it is correct for you and your loved ones.
    • Tips for a healthy you: There is one section called “Steps to a healthier weight” that helps people take the first step toward a healthy weight.

These bullet points are just the beginning of a huge site of great information and aids for a healthy life. Take a little time and see if your current diet is healthy and if not use the tracker to see what you can do to have a health 2010! To visit the site go to www.mypyramid.gov
