  • The Most Powerful Cellular Signal Booster Yet: zBoost’s ZB575-A

    July 28, 2014 - Leave a Comment

  just reviewed zBoost TRIO SOHO!

"It’s getting easier and easier to rely on your smartphone for so many of your everyday tasks. They are getting large enough to be similar to tablets, offering processors and graphics capable of competing head-to-head with last generation video game consoles or fairly recent laptops, and the battery life and screens are decent enough. You could almost cut another cord- your internet- and save some money if you have a large or unlimited data plan. Simply use your mobile and share it as a hotspot, especially if you are reliant on satellite or in an area with poor or expensive ISPs. But there’s a catch- you’ll need cellular signal."New zBoost TRIO ZB575- Image

"And that’s where a booster comes in, like the new zBoost ZB575-A Trio SOHO, which we first heard about at CES earlier this year and is now making it’s way to consumers. We’ve seen several previous zBoost models, large and small, and always found them easy to use and consistent, though they do rely on antennas that can require a bit of work to set up, adjust, and optimize. This one is their newest tri-band model, capable of not only boosting your calls, but internet as well though it is constrained to specific carriers. Ours was built for use with AT&T and helped with 4G LTE, CEL (800 MHz) and PCS (1900 MHz). Verizon versions are available too, and they look and function pretty much identically (and similar to older models as well)."

  • Home Automation Becoming More Affordable

    July 15, 2014 - Leave a Comment

Home automation includes centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks, and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security. The popularity of home automation has been increasing greatly in recent years.  It had been largely unaffordable and confusing to the average consumer for many years, but times are changing.

Stewart Wolpin of Techlicious, writes in Home Automation Becomes Cheap and Easy, how home automation has become much more affordable especially with Staples and Home Depot announcing their respective home automation platforms – Staples Connect and Wink.

"Staples Connect and Home Depot Wink are multi-brand, multi-device and multi-protocol home automation systems that use one app, making them simple to set up and use--without the help of a professional installer. Both the Staples Connect and Home Depot Wink apps are free, and neither requires a subscription or service fee. Both apps are available for Apple's iOS and Android; Staples Connect also is available for Windows 8 PCs and Windows Phone 8 mobile devices and, soon, through Samsung smart TVs."

zBoost Mobile 1 boosts cell signals to new heights! (And a Giveaway)

“ I have always loved zBoost, so when contacted about their new mobile booster I was thrilled. I did receive a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for testing out the zBoost Mobile 1 device. All opinions are mine and are in no way influenced by receipt of product.”

Out here in the country a cell service signal can at times be hard to come by…even here at the house. But if you go even further up in the mountains…it becomes near impossible. And we find ourselves in that predicament often. Like recently I went up and spent a day with some friends at their property even further up in the mountains than where I live and I knew from past experience that a cell signal was going to be non-existent. I was right. I thought Tate was going to have a coronary at first when he realized that he was going to have to go a full day without a signal.

But I also knew that should we absolutely need it, we could have one thanks to the zBoost Mobile 1. The device is great. Seriously, my phone would go from “No Service” to 3 bars in a second once it was placed in the cradle. It is easy to install, easy to use and does it’s job fabulously!!

Post-It place zBoost image 2014-07-31 at 6.50.00 PMThis is what it looks like in the car.

You can mount the cradle where it is convenient for you.

Then you just place your phone in the cradle and let it work its magic.

  • Landlines Are Being Dropped- 4 in 10 US Homes are Cellphone Only

    July 8, 2014 - Leave a Comment

Homes in the United States are dropping their landlines and opting for Cellphones only according to a recent CDC study. Four out of 10 households use cellphones only, which is twice the rate from just five years ago. Mike Stobbe of AP recently reported for ABC News, 4 in 10 US Homes Are Cellphone Only, Skip Landline.

The CDC survey released today, July 8, 2014, is based on in-person interviews in more than 21,000 homes during the last half of 2013. Some of the facts that the researchers found include:

    • Not all homes have phones: About 3 percent have no landline or cellphone.
    • About 9 percent have only landlines, and about 48 percent have both. Five years ago, 17 percent had only landlines, and about 60 percent had landlines and cellphones

    • Younger people rely more on cellphones: Nearly two-thirds of people in their late 20s live in households with only cellphones. Only 14 percent of people 65 and older use only cellphones.

    • The Midwest is the most wireless region: About 44 percent live in cellphone-only homes. The South and West were nearly as high. In the Northeast, 25 percent live in cellphone-only households.

  • Happy Independence Day

    July 3, 2014 - Leave a Comment

As we celebrate the 4th of July with parades, barbecues, picnics and fireworks with our friends and family this week, we remember some of the events that led to our nation's independence.  Our forefathers bravely fought to gain our freedom and dedicated their lives to this endeaver.  In 1776, representatives of the 13 colonies then fighting in the revolutionary war weighed a resolution that would declare independence from Great Britain. On July 2nd, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson.

In 1870, the U.S. Congress made July 4th a federal holiday and it has been celebrated every year as an important national holiday and a symbol of patriotism.  In addition to fireworks and patriotic songs, a salute of one gun for each state in the United States, called a “salute to the union,” is fired on Independence Day at noon by any capable military base.

Wishing all of you a safe and happy Independence Day.
