  • Highlights of the 2011 CES Digital Experience

    January 7, 2011 - Leave a Comment

The Consumer Electronics Show is in full swing today and the PR team is already back in Atlanta.  We are all a little bleary eyed after our 28 hour whirlwind stay in Vegas, but in that short time we had several good interviews and lots of interest in the data speed performance of the zBoost-SOHO and zBooost-Metro.  The growth of smartphones and tablet technology is certainly driving this interest. As more and more people come to rely on their new gadgets they need a zBoost more than ever to make them work in their home or office.

I am fortunate to have a zBoost at work and also in my home office, so I take my cell phone signal for granted. During my work day, I am constantly on my iPhone and iPad, however our hotel in Vegas had no signal at all for those staying on the lower floors and all of a sudden I was no longer connected to my team members, documents, family, email, texts or any of the other areas that I need to use to successfully telework.  I was surrounded by some of the newest technology in the world and I couldn’t even make a call or send a text. Very, very frustrating!

Speaking of new technology, as always CES had acres of the newest and most interesting technology.  Tablets, smartphones, 3D TV’s, TV’s with no glass, and numerous technology toys for even the geekiest of geeks were pleasing the 2011 CES attendees.  This year’s attendance is projected at 130,000 visitors and I just read that consumer electronic purchases according Steve Koenig, the CEA association's industry analysis director, says global CE receipts could hit $964 billion this year, adding that he "would not be surprised at all" if the $1 trillion milestone is reached.

  • CES Product Recap

    January 8, 2010 - Leave a Comment

Las Vegas - More than 100,000 tech enthusiasts are in Las Vegas this week attending the Consumer Electronics Show.  We were at the opening yesterday morning picking up the 2010 Innovations Design and Engineering Award plaque for the zBoost One and the energy and excitement was contagious.  Lady Gaga was in attendance with Polaroid, Taylor Swift sang near the Sony booth and the overall atmosphere was much more upbeat than last year's opening.

Wednesday night at The Digital Experience Press Event, the new Google phone, Nexus One was the celebrity in the room.  The press was crowded outside of the door waiting for the event to begin, hoping to be one of the first to demo the Nexus One phone.  When the event was over, Sharon and I talked to the Google reps and got a firsthand demo.  Sharon has been in the market for a new phone and was so impressed that she almost ordered one on site.  As an iPhone user, I thought it was very nice, but I definitely would not trade my iPhone for the Nexus One.

Besides the Nexus One and the zBoost One, the other eye catching products were the

PowerMat wireless charging pads for mobile phones, the Kodak waterproof camera with video, the Wink photo printing service by Shutterfly and the large selection of artistic phone covers by Speck.  See the links below for additional CES pictures and recaps from some of the top news outlets.
