Do cellular phone signal boosters really work?
There are a lot of cellular phone signal boosters out there that, quite frankly, do not live up to their promises. zBoost cell phone signal boosters do. They are designed to take the same signal you receive outside and bring it inside, amplifying the signal indoors. Please note that if you do not have signal outdoors, zBoost products will not work for you. Remember, we can only help improve your signal strength if you have enough of a signal outside to place a call.
Who needs a cellular phone signal booster?
If you are tired of being part of the 72%+ of wireless phone users having trouble maintaining cell phone signal strength inside a home, you need a cellular phone signal booster. In order to improve the wireless service, the cell phone signal needs to be amplified. zBoost has a line of zBoost products for the Home that boosts indoor cell phone signal. You won’t have to go outside or to a window to use your cell phone again.
Will the zBoost SOHO unit work with any wireless carrier?
The zBoost SOHO supports voice and text for all major carriers (all carriers using 800 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies).
Will zBoost SOHO work with my 4G phone?
Yes, it will work with your 4G phone voice feature. At this time, most 4G-capable devices drop to 3G/2G while placing a call and use 4G for transmitting data. To eliminate dropped or missed calls and choppy voice make sure to install a 2G/3G booster. If you have a 4G phone and you experience slow data, choose a zBoost booster that supports 4G.
What benefits can I expect from using a zBoost product?
You can stop suffering from dropped calls when you’re indoors.
- Decrease dropped or missed calls
- Extend the battery life of your cell phone by using less power when the signal is stronger
- Replace your expensive landline phone service
- In addition, zBoost cell phone signal boosters enhance the following wireless applications:
- Sending and receiving messages
- Internet usage from your cell phone, smartphone or wireless data card
- high-speed data
- Downloading software
- Security systems backup
Why do I lose cell phone signal strength indoors?
Several factors affect cell phone signal penetration into buildings, including building material (metal, concrete, wood), wall density, number of windows and building height.
Can I use zBoost in my home?
Yes, zBoost products can be used in homes. Many consumers want to use their cell phone to replace an expensive landline phone, and many more need a stronger cell phone signal in the house.
How can I tell if zBoost will help extend coverage in my home?
You can run a simple test. If you can place a call outside your home zBoost will help you by boosting the signal inside the building. If there is no signal outside, however, zBoost will not give you an improvement in coverage. Remember, we can only help improve your signal strength if you have enough of a signal outside to place a call.
How much will my cell phone coverage be extended with a zBoost product?
The coverage zBoost provides varies depending on the product, outdoor signal level, indoor building materials and antenna placement. zBoost ZB545, for instance, provides a maximum of 2,500 sq. ft. The 2,500 sq. ft. number represents open space coverage with optimal signal strength at the external antenna. However, if your outdoor signal level is low, your coverage will be one small room. In this instance, use of a directional external antenna is recommended.
What can I expect my cell phone signal range and strength to be inside my home?
The closer you are to the base, the stronger the signal. This will vary with different conditions. Some of the conditions that will affect the improved coverage area are signal strength outdoors, the type of walls in the home, the placement of the unit and proximity to cellular towers.
Your expectations should be that your indoor coverage will be improved. You will be able to make calls where you couldn’t before. The coverage improvement will depend upon many factors. The intent of zBoost products are to bring outside coverage inside. If you want an even stronger signal, consider a more powerful external antenna or directional indoor antenna.
How does zBoost work?
Once installed, zBoost captures the stronger cell phone signal from the outside wireless network and amplifies the signal inside, thus improving your wireless coverage. It’s that simple.
Can zBoost help my signal in my RV?
The zBoost SOHO ZB545 Series will work great in an RV. Because many RVs are metal, the wireless signal is blocked from reaching the interior of the RV. This unit will help coverage in your RV or boat. The only requirement is AC power and a signal outside strong enough to place a call. This unit can be installed in virtually any location that wireless service needs improvement.
Where should I put my zBoost base unit to get the best coverage?
Where you need coverage the most. The base unit is the component that amplifies the signal inside. For products that use an omni-directional indoor antenna, the coverage is improved in a circular manner from the indoor antenna. The farther you are away from the antenna, the weaker the signal. The base and indoor antenna could be placed in the family room, the basement, a bedroom or a central location.
Where is the best place to put my zBoost external antenna?
The external antenna should be placed at the highest point in your house in order to “catch” the signal as it goes by. This could be in the attic or on the roof. We advise against putting the external antenna too close to the base unit. The external antenna should have at least 15 feet of vertical separation from the base unit.
Is there a zBoost product that does not require 15 ft. of vertical separation?
The zBoost CONNECT ZB540 does not require 15 ft. of vertical separation between the base unit and antenna. It is perfect for single story settings like an apartment, condo, urban lofts, or dorm rooms. The zBoost CONNECT supports voice and text for all major carriers.
What is 4G, LTE and AWS?
4G is the 4th generation, the latest mobile network technology, giving you faster data speeds and an overall better internet experience. While 3G provides access to the Internet, including video content and mobile apps, 4G provides mobile ultra-broadband Internet access.
4G is still in the early stages of deployment nationwide and not all areas offer full 4G service. 4G phones are backwards compatible with 2G/3G, so if you venture into an area without 4G service your phone will still be supported by your carrier.
LTE (long -term evolution), marketed as 4G LTE, is a specific data protocol for the wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones. It increases capacity and speed using a different radio interface. LTE creates more space to carry data traffic and services to deliver a better network experience. LTE technology uses the 4G band of 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies to transmit data.
AWS (advanced wireless services) is a wireless telecommunications spectrum band used for mobile voice and data services, video, and messaging. AWS, which operates on the 1700MHz frequency, is a digital cellular network that provides coverage in areas where carriers do not own radio frequency spectrum licenses.
Is a cellular phone signal booster the same as a wireless router; will it help my WIFI signal?
zBoost will not help your WIFI service. zBoost products are designed to work with mobile phones and devices. The WIFI in your home uses a different frequency.
Can using a cellular phone signal booster improve the battery life of my wireless phone?
Yes! Because zBoost boosts the signal, the phone will consume less power to capture the cell phone signal, thus conserving the battery of the phone -- enabling you to talk longer.
Can I install a zBoost myself?
We have designed zBoost for easy setup. We have included instructions for each product both in the product package and on our website.
Do zBoost products have a warranty?
